Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong are an English indie all-male band based in London.
Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong played their first gig in January 2007 and released debut single Lucio Starts Fires on Young and Lost Club Records on October 8, 2007. Their sound has been described as being 'corporate indie'.
Lead singer Joe Lean also acts under the name Joe Van Moyland and was drummer with The Pipettes until June 2007, while guitarist Tommy D (Thomas Dougall) is brother of the same band's Rose Pipette. Bummer (James Craig) has been a stand-in drummer for The Pipettes and was also drummer for The Sigma. He is also the brother of George Craig from One Night Only.
In 2007 they supported Babyshambles, Dizzee Rascal, Cansei de Ser Sexy and Kaiser Chiefs, and completed their first headlining tour across the UK in December 2007. In 2008 they supported The Cribs on the 2008 NME Awards Tour, and will be showcasing at the SXSW music festival in Austin, TX. The band were placed number 7 on the BBC's Sound of 2008 poll. Their next single, "Lonely Buoy", is currently scheduled for release on 18 February 2008, and the NME reported that they are currently recording an album with producer John Cornfield.
